Welcome to our Home!Christie's Update (August 2009) This is the 'official' site of Shekinah Farm. A family farm and home to many animals and people! We hope you enjoy your visit. Let me start by explaining the name of our farm. Shekinah is a hebrew word meaning Yahweh (G-d) indwells here. When we moved here we invited Yahweh to dwell here with us, since it was He that made it possible for us to have our farm. We bought our place in November, 1999 and we are learning everyday about how things are on a farm and how to rely on the Father and the Son, Yeshua, to get us through each day.Shekinah Farm is a 9 acre gentleman's farm with a 4 bedroom brick home, barn, 7 fenced acres of pasture and a pond. We are located in North Alabama about 3 miles south of the Tennessee border. Since moving here we have built a chicken house, tree house, added storage buildings, milking area in the barn, and a resource building and office for our ministry and school(VAST Network). We are currently building on a summer kitchen in the back, replacing our electric stove with wood burning ones and are working on moving off the grid. Let me introduce the family to you. My husband Richard "Satch" and I, Christie, are the owners of Shekinah Farm. We are Dad and Mom in most of the stories in this site. We have 1 child now living here, Shelly age 16. Ricky, April, and Tasha are in some of our stories and journals, Ricky is our Son (21), Tasha is our adopted Daughter and is 20 yo. She lived with us for 3 years. April (19) is our G-d Daughter and lived with us off and on most of her life. We are caregivers for 'Grandpa Buster' (Richard's Dad), and home to 'Grandma', 'Grandpa Norm' (Christie's Parents) and 'Kev' (Christie's brother.) We have 2 dogs, Shyla and Zivah, Bull Mastifs. We have several cats, 1 that lives inside, Smudge, and a bunch that live outside and keep the mice and rats away, well sort of. We have 2 horses, 2 cows, 2 steers, and two bull calves, we keep anywhere from 12-20 chickens, and bee hives. Our plans for the future include adding some fruit trees. We no longer have La Mancha milk goats and we are now milking our cows. We do have plans on adding a couple milk goats again. We have a photo gallery that is always under construction so please take a look! Dad works for our school part time and works full time on the military post in Huntsville, AL. Mom runs the home as well as a home school organization for special needs children. She has home schooled her children since 1990. We all share in the farm chores and try to include everyone staying with us as much as possible in our daily routine of farming, learning, and enjoying Adonai's provision and family life. We currently home church and have fellowship daily with those Yahweh sends our direction. We meet on Friday evenings and Saturday for Shabbat. Sometimes we visit other home groups on Saturdays. If you would like to know more about our beliefs please check out our Yahweh page. If you would like to visit, please email me. The farm journal or our stories pages are very behind, but are wonderful places to start your visit. We invite you to laugh and cry with us, live and love with us! Yahweh has blessed us greatly and we thank Him! Latest update: May 2009 Happy Summer! Check out our new Blog! I can't always update daily, but I am using it for our farm journal.
